Gurney Plaza - Gelatomio

Eating gelato is always a dream of my wife. And so happened that we saw this Gelatomio on the way down from the Gurney Plaza car park to ground floor. We decided to pit stop for a while to enjoy the gelato.

It is a simple store with some tables available.

The sign is a cute bear holding a 3 scoops ice-cream.

All the available flavors can be seen directly at the counters. The ice-cream looks smooth and nice.

There are plenty of flavors displayed, even fruits and yogurts flavor.

My 2 favorites side by side! :P

The menu at the table.

The ice-cream taste is smooth, lite compared to the super sweet and heavy Haagen Dazs and Baskin Robbins. I actually prefer this. :P

Gurney Paragon - Goku Raku Ramen

It was wife's birthday. As usual, she preferred a simple and relax way of celebration. So, we went for a movie at GSC Gurney Plaza. After the movie, it is lunch time, we want to look for something that we didn't try before. So, we decided to walk over to Gurney Paragon.

Wife is always a fans of ramen, so without hesitation, we went for the Goku Raku Ramen.

The restaurant is located somewhere further inside Gurney paragon on the left. The compound is of medium size, but the interior is very well designed with plenty of seats around.

We chose the seat near to the entrance. The table is pretty huge, it is more like for 4 persons. Since there is not a lot of customers in the restaurant, we got to choose where ever seats we like. :P

There are some bar top seats as well, where you had a view of chefs at work.

The menu are sitting well at the table waiting for its fated customer to take a look at.

A closer look at the frontpage of menu. The two Mandarin words read "ji le" which means maximum happiness.

When I opened the menu, the first page is very interesting. It is actually a guide on how to eat ramen. :P

There are total of 6 steps, which is pretty similar to what my wife told me how to eat ramen after she stationed in Japan for 3 months few years ago. :)

Desserts, which I think not that Japanese style. :P Anyway, when we were there, there is promotion for HSBC credit card members. But since we were not really interested with the dessert, we didn't order any.

Both of us ordered hot green tea, since we just came out from the ever super cold Gurney Plaza's GSC. :P
I still preferred the green tea served in a ceramic round and straight cup. A glass just don't have the right feel of eating ramen. :P

The chopsticks and spoons are served in the basket. The chopstick wrapper is quite interesting, as it can be used in another way as well.

This is how you placed the chopstick. :P

Main dish, the ramen! The soup is nice, the ramen also nice. :) Forgot what is the ramen name already. I think one of it is Goku Raku ramen.

Another view of the ramen before it is consumed. :)

Close up on the ramen.

Price wise I can said it is considered on the high side. The interesting things is that you can actually mix and match the ramen according to the ingredients you preferred. :)

Gurney Paragon - Morganfield's

Our visits to this restaurant is pretty dramatic, including x times of e-mail discussion and 3 times of reservation ffk. Well, we had a schedule to rush for visiting this restaurant especially before one of my colleague's baby delivery. Finally we make it at one of the Friday without one of us, who is having a major eye surgery in KL. Wish him speedy recovery!

Gurney Paragon is only familiar to me as an expensive property building. It never occurs to me to visit it as Gurney Plaza is just besides it and I stayed at mainland. :P

As usual, pork ribs always catch my attention as it is my favorite food after the first time of tasting it in Apple Bee's restaurant at Mc Carthy Ranch, San Jose. So, I'm so excited when my fellow colleague mentioned about eating ribs at Morganfield's. Without second thought, I straight away agreed to it.

The center part of the Gurney Paragon. with both high tower (not sure is super condo or office building) at the side.

The outlook of Morganfield's. The outlet is pretty huge with quite a number of seats. From outside it looks like a bistro/bar more than like a restaurant.

The big billboard with a short introduction to their ribs.

Surprise to see a classic jukebox in da house. If you'll like to listen to your favorite music whiile enjoying your meal, give it a try. :)

Plenty of choices at the bar counter......

They serve red wine too, should be good to drink it with the ribs. :P

The pamphlet greeting me when I just sit down, their famous ribs, grilled with Jack Daniel's.

There is a guest comment card readied at each table for you to feedback. Don't forget to give a "like" in the guest card if you like their service and food. :)

The menu is pretty simple, it is a piece of paper with all the value set lunch shown on it. I was there during lunch time. I personally like their choices a lot.

The highlight of the menu, the ribs. :P

Set Lunch's soup of the day.

Chicken Caesar salads. Nice!

B.L.T Salads, the vegetables are fresh, the taste is light. Really good to go along with the all meaty ribs. :)

I ordered the Smokehouse Bacon Cheeseburger, really love the patties. The patties is really soft and melt in the mouth.

Lastly, the ribs!!!! I'll say so far the best I tried in Penang. :P Juicy, tender and grilled to perfection. :) We ordered a full rack and shared among us. It is best to do it this way so that can try more types of food especially when we were there as a group.

There's not a lots of parking around Paragon, so you might need to spend sometime looking for parking. I didn't park inside the Paragon parking, not sure how is the parking availability inside. There are plenty of parking along Gurney Drive.

i Avenue - Ristorante Bravo Italiana

This year is a year full of farewell lunch, and the most headache of all is where to eat. We always took this as chance to treat the "leaver" well and try out some nice restaurant that we won't usually step in. So for this time, we chose the Bravo Italiana restaurant located at i-Avenue.

The outlook of the restaurant looks normal, there are no expensive renovation like other restaurant which give you an impression that it is going to be expensive.

There are plenty of seat in the restaurant which I personally think that the arrangement is pretty neat. It has utilize the space very well.

The lighting is a bit dimmed with the available tungsten light (which I found out most of the Italian restaurant I went to are like that).

The menu is pretty simple with plenty of choice. If you went there during lunch time, there are lunch set menu which is well worth for the money you paid. Most of us ordered the lunch set.

Mushroom soup, the chef put in some effort in cooking this. The mushroom taste is rich, it is suitable for those really likes mushroom a lot (like me). Recommend to try this out.

Garlic bread, fresh and nice. Lightly toasted, can taste the fresh garlic on top of the bread when eating it. Very well prepared by the chef.

Hot lemon tea.

Forgot the name of this dish......

If not mistaken, this should be the Tuna pizza. Nice! The crust is thin and crunchy. The cheese taste is not overwhelming. :)

Another dish that I forgot the name. Arggh.....needs to find a way to record down properly. :P

Spaghetti Carbonara

Spaghetti Bolognese

Strawberry and chocolate ice-cream as dessert. :)

A surprise from my fellow colleague, a Tiramisu birthday cake. lol......it is really tasty and nice. Worth to try it out if you are there. :)

Penang Times Square - Haven Delights

I had never step into Penang Times Square before this. Invited by my colleagues, I decided to go for this together with a few of them through the Groupon's deal. From most of the review I could get online, it seems like it is another nice place to go for buffet style other than Tao. It is never harm to try something new and we are in the mood. So, go for it!

Fortunately my colleague is with me in the car, or else I'll be having trouble to find the parking area. :P lol.....not really go to Jalan Datuk Keramat's area often. :)

Well, with the guidance, it is easy to find the restaurant.

The restaurant is located at Level 1, besides the upcoming Tao restaurant. We noticed Tao is under renovation when we are on the way to the restaurant, which is exactly just beside it.

The restaurant is opened daily from 10.30am until 11.00pm. Which means they served lunch and dinner.

There are some nice decoration near the entrance. Most of it are Chinese related statue.

There are also some figurines around the corner...

The seat arrangement are neat and comfy, not bad.

As usual, I'll look at the ceiling after sitting down at the table. The deco lighting is really interesting. The place is pretty well lit, but I'll still like it to be a little bit brighter.

Restaurant view from the other side. There are few kinds of seating arrangement which suit from 2 persons to 8 persons. So, no worries about how many companions you bring to the restaurant. :)

If you called earlier to reserve the seat, this is basically what they'll place on your table. :P

The menu cover is made of PU, has a leather like feel. The restaurant logo is printed in gold. Looks pretty classy.

Inside the menu, there are plenty of foods to order. But becareful with your choice, some are not worth to try out.

The order sheets on the table. Fill it up and hand it to the waitress for the order.

This is what you get in returns. An order sheet which can be as long as it gets. :P

After hand in the food order, the next thing to do is definitely go for the starter and drinks. The drinks counter is at the most inside of the restaurant.

There are 3 types of drink served: green tea, mango and orange. I just test out the mango and orange. The color of the green tea is a bit too much for me. The drink is typical, nothing special about it.

The salmon salad, which is the appertizer. It is self-service, so you might want to grab it fast or needs to wait for the next refill. We are there pretty early, not all the self-service food are ready yet. At first we thought there are really too small portion prepared. Later on there are more of it appear on the table. :)

The fruit served is watermelon, forgot if there are other types of food. Usually I go for watermelon anyway. :P

Nice decoration at the bar area......

The sashimi, not bad...I prefer Tao's sashimi. :P

The wasabi comes with the sashimi, it doesn't has the strong taste of wasabi.

Forgot what is this already. :P

Shishamu Karaage, not good. Not recommend to order.

Dragon fruit pork, the looks is really different from what is shown in the menu. The taste also ok only.

Tempura, not to say bad, just ok.

One of the dishes which taste ok - Edamame.

The octopus, I had never like this. So didn't try it.

Abalone, taste good.

The green mussel grilled with cheese! My favorite! This is good. :)

Hmm.....what is this dish already? Lol, really too many types of food. Can't really remember all. Next time need to note down properly. :P

Another dish which I can't remember the name, but it doesn't taste good.

Grilled scallop with cheese. Best! We ordered this dishes more than 3 times. :)

Chawan mushi, avoid it at all times. We regretted to order this......

Tried another type, still the same......not good...

Grilled lamb.......can't believe it can be like that. There is really a need to improve on the food quality.

Overall, for RM28.00 Groupon deal, I'll say it worth a try, but don't expect much on the service and the food quality.

I think I won't step into this restaurant again unless I got the news that the food quality had improve. Well, it has been sometime since I visit this restaurant, it might be better now. :)
